Rideau 'yak fishing

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Rideau 'yak fishing

Post by Gord »

Took the kayak out on the Rideau by Long Island this morning. Got lots of smallies but not big ones. Biggest was 12", smallest 4". Most productive area was in the back channel below the rapids. Got all of them on a small shadrap with the ultralight. The 12" one put up a hell of a fight! Lots of leaping! Got off the river just in time before the boat traffic started.
I'm a goin' fishin', mama's goin' fishin' and my baby's goin fishin' too.

bowzog,

Sounds like a fun time. Maybe you didn't get any lunkers, but at least you had plenty of action! :)

Thanks, Dad, for taking me fishing when I was a kid.

Wait for a few weeks, I think all the big boys and girls are hidhing out to the little water feeders for a few weeks(they usually do, near mid to late June somethimes earlier). But Quantity over Quality I always say.
