Walleye bay frustration

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Walleye bay frustration

Post by Lvace »

I have been out to walleye bay 4 times now and I have come up empty handed 4 times...... I tried everything from spoons to rapala jigging raps. I tried all with or without minnows some alive and some just the head. I also set up tip ups. I have been 14ft to 27ft deep. Any tips and or suggestions on what I might be doing wrong? Its my first year really giving it a go at ice fishing. Most of the time I have been able to make it out is 1pm to 6pm. Thanks in advance!

Find a shallow ledge by the point and fish there. Like 4 feet shallow. When your comfort zone doesn't work, do something different. Try banging a jigging wrap or puppet minnow off the ice in the hole next to a hole with a live minnow.....
Fishing is a heritage we need to teach. Take a kid fishing! And take me too while you're at it.

u have electronics ivace?
If so just keep moving till you mark fish on your finder then drop down and try to catch them. Usually I don't do this but if u been skunked 4 times your location is the real problem so I wouldnt drop another lure down till u see a mark.

I had the same problem at walleye bay and my solution was eliminate walleye bay from my fishing spots....it should be re-named skunk bay!
I go somewhere else.

I was there last Friday morning. Got 4 dinks. A client recently told me he hits a hot bite for 15 minutes at dusk and that's it.

Hey, so i get out to walleye bay at least 2 times a week and both days on the weekend. I have no problems catching fish and I'm talking numbers, some days we get a bad day and will only get a couple but a good day, i get anywhere from 15 to 20 sometimes even 30, all around 12 to 18 inches.I have got one 4 pounder this year and a 6. But every time i head out I'm always running and gunning looking for the schools. I find sometimes ill get them in 10 ftow and I even was pulling them off the bottom in 40 ftow . Its all about where and what time of day also. Don't let the afternoon bite fool you either yes it is true its a hot time but so is early morning and around lunch time i tend to head to my deeper water areas to locate the bigger fish. Anyways hope it helps you out and tight lines!! :D

I try and get out once a week even if its only for 2 hours or 6 hours. I rigged my boat fish finder to tell depth and i can also see how I am jigging now the only problem I have is I do like to run and gun but I am limited to my manual auger. Gonna need a power auger for next year!!!!! Thanks for all the help!
