Ice season and Wishful thinking

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Ice season and Wishful thinking

Post by Mike P »

Seems ages ago the hand auger was first piercing the ice for the first time this season. Nov 29 was a first for me, who would've thought, ice fishing in Nov! I was so pumped to have the ice season here. Now months later, The hand auger long put away and the extension almost ready to go onto the gas auger, I am left with one thought....When can I launch?
First couple outings were in pursuit of speckles.

Then onto some early ice walleye. On a -42 ( windchill ) day was my best walleye bite, icing 26 and my buddy icing 9 in 2hrs.
A full day to thaw out though!

Some days on Quinte. We were lucky enough to all catch fish each trip. Gold spoons and Perch colored Buck-Shots were hot for us.

Travel and conditions to and from the back lakes this season has forever been changing and there has been more than one trip made with-out wetting a line because of the amount of snow or not being able to make it all the way into a lake that I was at a week earlier. My last two trips have been like this. I call these days " Learning an area better just shy of where you want to be!"
I know there is still a lot of ice fishing left...and I still like ice fishing....but after some of the conditions this year, I have to at least wonder why sometimes. So, I go back and look to see what I was doing this week last year.

It didn't help!

A fantastic ice season for you as always Mike. Love that walleye pic of the fish heads sticking out of the snow. Am I the only one who's truly embracing this crazy long and cold winter? I'm absolutely loving it, long live ice fishing!!!
Walleye'm fishing, you're sleeping.

There always has to be one!!!

Have you actually ever even looked at an Ont Fishing Reg book? In what Division would you think we would be over our limit? Please read and I would be interested in your response!

Walleye em Fishing....winter is all your's!!! lol

Mike:

I would be interested on hearing what the fish hawk police has to say also??
I guess he knows how many people you were fishing with and where ,,,,,,,,so mike you best be looking over your shoulder when you go fishing as some people are following you in to your fishing spots.

No need to leave ikissfish but sorry to say you kinda came off as the tight butt first "posing" a question the way you worded it. I see 8 walleye between 2 guys which is under the sport fishin limit assuming they are in Ontario. No ones being an butt, MikeP is just defending himself against a post that is suggesting he is poaching when in fact he is not at all. Hate to say it but it's responses like yours that keep people from posting IMO. There always has to be one guy who chimes in with a negative response to a sweet post.

Good fishing this winter MikeP, some nice catches for sure. Backwoods fishin has been quite the task this winter, especially when you only have access to an ATV. Can't wait for some warm weather ice fishing but REALLY can't wait till open water season! Bring it on.
