Conditions at Kars?

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Conditions at Kars?

Post by SakranMM »

Anyone know what the conditions at Kars are like now...ice/no ice, etc... I drove past Mooney's Bay this morning, and last night's rain seems to have cleared almost all the ice...mostly open water, so I'm hopeful about Kars.

Yeah, I passed by it last Saturday, still icey then...but with the rain and warm temps this past week and coming weekend, I've got my hopes up. I'm planning to check it out again this Monday, and if there's still too much ice to get to the panfish, I'll probably try around the Chapman Mill Conservation area (didn't have much luck there last year, but who knows this year), possibly Mooney's Bay since it will definately be ice-free by then...it was almost totally clear this morning.

Drove by today.... The boat launch is completely underwater... Most of the near by properties are flooded... Looks like it may get worse before it gets better.

Dang. I was hoping to get out there for some spring bluegills...I was nailing them at Kars last year. Well, my alternative is Black Rapids, but I'm not too hopeful...it seems the reputation of the spot has gone downhill the last few years.

Does the launch still look like this or has the water receded?

Still a little high at 416 bridge but appears to be almost back to normal spring levels.

When I dropped by the boat launch on Thursday you could walk on it with a pair of boots. Spent 30 min wetting my line but I think the water was still too cold.... I did not catch anything.

Drove down River rd all the was back home from Kempville today and the water level looked like it was back to normallish spring levels.... I also witnessed a boat being launched from Eco lands park.

Normal spring levels no fellas. Water is still cold. If warm temps ever come it'll get goin. Long term forecast says you may be Crappie fishing while Walleye is open. I know I likely won't start until then....

You're right RJ, the temp is still a week or two behind normal spring temps, I just meant that the Rideau River water level was getting back to near normal depth for spring. You should actually be able to see the launch ramps now...
