Hey boys,
Im buying a handheld gps on thursday from canadian tire, it is a garmin e-trex 20. I have read alot about the garmin inland lakes canada chip and for the money decided its not worth it to purchase. So now I am looking for free canada marine maps to download and transfer onto a micro sd card and put into the gps. Can someone point me in the right direction? Looking for mainly the ottawa river, rideau river and canal, charleston lake and pretty much any lake/ river close to ottawa I can get my hands on.

Re: free maps
Not sure about lake maps but for topo maps that are legal and free on some garmin gps check out Ibycus. There is a you tube vid on how to install. Cheers

What i like to use is my smart phone. I have an ap that has about 8 different maps including two areal maps and two different topos. Its called Canada maps free
Re: free maps
If there are lake maps for free with depth contours great, if not I would like to get topo maps with accurate shorelines of the lake im fishing. This way I can place waypoints on good spots and use a paper map to find out roughly where I was.
Re: free maps
probably you would like to try:

I downloaded "Canada Garmin Map" for free from somewhere but sorry I forgot the link. I bought Garmin 78S a month ago but not with me on the water yet.
