Two PB Walleye's in one night!

With kid number two arriving at xmas, the fishing has been light (read: non-existent) this year.

All it took was one epic fall trip to make up for it.

We arrived at our destination a bit later than expected, so we only had the evening to fish. All we could find were smallies, but the fishing could only be described as a frenzy. We didn't hook into any beasts, but steady 2-2.5 lbers—with the odd 3 pounder.

Day #2 was aaaaaallllll walleye. We caught good numbers in the morning (all in the 16-18" range). At lunch we prepped the evening fish fry so that we could go back in the evening and swing for the fences. Off we went at 4pm to look for the big girls.

My first PB walleye was this 21.5 incher.

THEN, I hooked into this fat pig of a mother walleye. 24.5 inches. Didn't get the girth, but she was above average. She had the shoulders of a linebacker.

And... that'll be my one and only report for the year!

Cheers,

Thanks all! Any guesses on weight? I don't actually know, but according to the calculators, it could be anywhere from 6-8lbs.

Yep, love fishing from that kayak. You couldn't get to this lake with a motor, so advantage us.

24.5" would be around the 5lb mark I would think. It doesn't have a huge belly. Usually need to get close to 26" to hit the 6lb. mark. Well, maybe not those Quinte hogs. Damn nice fish. I hope you kept one of them.

Cheers

If you take the length but no girth, here are very general guidelines:

A 24 inch walleye usually weighs 4 pounds.

A 25 incher = 5 pounds

26'' = 6 pounds

27'' = 7 pounds

28'' = 8 pounds

29'' = 9 pounds

30'' = 10 pounds

Let both of these go. Kept some smaller ones for a fish fry, but I like the idea of letting the bigger ones go for breeding. I question whether that logic is correct, but that's the one I feel most comfortable with.

The big one was super super dark. We figure it actually lives in a bigger lake next door, and comes over for feeding time. ie. stays much deeper in the water, therefore colouring is different?

Regardless, great looking fish E. Back lake = even better. Good fishing dood!
