Brookies in the Rain

This fall I've been targeting pike and walleye more than usual, but i was missing something.. Yesterday the plan was to hit my favorite brookie lake close to the city, i woke up to pouring rain and the weather wasn't supposed to get much better during the day, from my experience brookies seem to bite better in crap weather but this was the first time i fished for them in the pouring rain.
After getting minnows from bits and baits i was on my way, this lake is pressured a bit less than the others in the area and like i expected i was the only one there when i arrived. I usually bring my jon boat when targeting trout but i know where the brookies like to hang out in this lake, i casted my bobber from shore and the wait was on. After 15 minutes of nothing my bobber shot down and i got the first trout of the day, that's when i knew a school came through. I would put on a minnow and cast it out and wouldn't even wait 30 seconds before a trout took it, they weren't holdovers but still fun to catch. After getting a couple of females i got my first male, it still wasn't a holdover but it was nice to see it full of colour this time of year. After catching about 10 small guys i got my first holdover at around 11 inches, i decided i would release it because it was barely hooked and had a good chance of surviving, i grabbed the hook and shook it off in the water. I was excited and cold, the action just wouldn't slow down, after i noticed i used over 2 dozen minnows i switched over to worms and they were hitting it almost as fast. Near the end of the day the smaller trout started to slow down, i switched back to a minnow and caught a few holdovers before dark.
