Elite 7 on Ice

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Elite 7 on Ice

Post by Happy Hooker »

I just purchased an Elite 7 Chirp for my boat this year, so I figured why not try out on the ice. After building my own ice pack and playing around with the settings I was pleasently surprized at the results.
I first started with the split screen with flasher and sonar but gave up on the flasher part, very finnky to set up.
The sonar was not that hard to set up but gave very good results. The only problem I encountered was interference from my sons flasher as were in a two man clam

Thanks for sharing anymore information would be great.

Can't afford a flasher as I make maybe a dozen trips a season - most in water less than 6' deep.
Looking at an all season unit that I can use in the canoe and on ice.

How are you running it and any points tips etc. be great.

Thanks

Michael the Elite-4x or -3X All Season Portable pack will give you that at a reasonable price, specially when it goes on sale. Right now Lowrance also has a $50-$100 promo rebate on until Feb. 25. http://www.lowrance.com/en-CA/specialof ... bate-2014/

Sure did two walleye and a nice pike. The nice thing about it when you spot the fish coming off bottom you can feather the jig to entice them into a hit. Also you can lift the jig to see if they will follow it up.
Also noticed some fish were way up in the water colum around 6 ft, maybe pike on the hunt.

I have the Elite 4 and prefer the graph over the flasher any day.

"Happy" try switching the frequency of your transducer under your settings. If you and your boy run at different transducer HZs this will probably clean up a lot of your noise. Hope that helps.
