PB Ling!!!

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

That would be illegal Paul!! :o

Good for you LC on achieving your goal. Live minnow? Buggers like to swallow them deep. Did you keep it? Lots of reports about how good it is, "the poor mans lobster".

Cheers

Very nice fish! Wow!

My PB would be anything over an inch long since I am yet to catch a Ling!

If I can wander off topic a bit, what method are you planning? I see a lot of simply boiling in strong salted water for best results. If I might wander further, I would suggest adding a nice strong garlic butter made with the more costly, quality bulbs, not that chinese crap. It really makes a huge difference in the enhancement and enjoyment of any meal. IMO anyway, as I love garlic. Or even better grow your own if you can, like I do. Not only are you eating your own quality product, you get a 400% return on your investment. A 4'x4' garden bed = 50 full bulbs. I triple that every year, which also gives me my seed garlic for the next fall planting. Can't beat it.

Lipless -
Nice catch!!
Slimy buggers they are... but a good thing the edible tail is 3/4 of the fish.

Smitty - the garlic butter sounds good.

Very nice ling liplessCrank.
Another good way to cook em is deep fried dipped in a wet beer batter.
Good ole fish n chips English pub style and tastes just as
good as any cod. Just make sure the skin is off.

I wont touch them - they smell bad lol - But that said, I had a friend clean one once, cut the meat up into cubs, poached it in salted onion and garlic water - dip into garlic butter and Ya!!! Tastes just like lobster, same consistency and everything. I was shocked.....

Of course dipping anything into garlic butter will probably taste good but I digress!

I agree about the ling - I caught my first one a couple of weeks ago, and it is a delicious fish. I hope to catch a few more this year.

I hear from my father in law that is all their catching this year on lake restoule. I'm heading there in a couple of weeks and I will eat them if I catch them. Everyone should try them at least once. You may be surprised.
