Muskrat info

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Muskrat info

Post by pikeman »

Hey gents,

A few of my friends and I will be in a tournament on Muskrat Lake on Feb 7. I have not seen any recent posts about Muskrat ice or bite info. Has anyone been recently and can give us a bit of info. I believe the tournament is off the main launch in town.

Thanks

I was on Muskrat lake last Sat.
There was a few trucks out on the ice and I joined.
We had 18" of solid black ice.
By the end of the day the ice was covered with trucks and trailers.

I cant make it to the tournament but good luck.

Last time I was out about 3 to 400 yards from launch, 12 feet water pike were hitting not to bad. Biggest was 5.5 lbs.
Saw a couple guys out further about 60 / 70 ft of water pulled out a good Laker, looked like a 8 to 10 lbs. from what
I could see. From the sounds they were making it had to be the biggest he had got. Good for them. The turny is in
the launch end of the lake and there will be some cedar trees planted in the ice for a boundary up towards the
trailer parks. One of the best turnaments going. See ya there.

Sadly I was skunked.
I was fishing the middle of the lake in 65' of water and a hut 30' away from me was fishing 100' of water and they landed a 12lb laker and a 26" pickerel.
The lake holds all kinds of big fish. The hard part is changing up your gear to find what will make them bit.
I will return to the lake and try the launch area next.
