If there could only be one, what would you take?

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

They used to be harder to procure but since Megabass of America opened up, I find more retailers are willing to sell them.

Great thread!

Rideau River to me is...

7'6" Shimano Crucial Flippin Stick.
Shimano Chronarch CI4+
50 lb Power Pro
Fin-Tech Title Shot 1/16ths oz with a creature bait. Yes 1/16ths oz.

I love reading what others do, opens eyes up a bit I think. Personally I'm a bit surprised by the love for the spinnerbait. I haven't thrown one in about 5 years, not sure why just haven't.

Just shows way more than one way to catch a green fish.

RJ

P.S. Great to see Ryan L. back on FH...

RJ,

I know you touched on it on one of the Wednesday night outings but, why the 1/16th head? I vaguely remember the answer, but that would be great info to share on the site!

And yes, I think threads like these really help people as well as it is always fun to hear what others would think. Threads like this are also great for the site!

Hey Adam, I 100% agree these types of threads are awesome and great content for the site. Everyone can add something to this thread!

I use a 1/16ths head and have for as long as I can remember because I WAAAAAAY prefer the slow fall of that bait, especially when I rig it with a large profile bait. Sure the Rideau is choked in spots and those mats can be tricky but there's always a hole to get it thru. Once thru it's a big profile bait with a slow fall. I swear I get more bites as it gives them a few more seconds to see it versus a 1/2oz jig punching thru at em. I find this lighter jig really shines when dock flipping.

I absolutely whacked Largies late fall with this jig on a crazy windy day on Constance Lake when Big Jim and I hit it for a few hours hoping it would be a bit sheltered. I rigged a Jackall Cover Craw backwards. Unreal how they crushed it that day slowly drifted back to the boat.

Well,

Her and Shawn came in empty handed so she should have been paying attention!

I have to admit, I have bought quite a few of those jigs since the day RJ gave us a few. They really are nice jigs.
