Wow what feeling. Can't wait to have my first bite and hoocked fish on the set-up.

Placed some 5 yards 25lb backing on the reel spool, tied the 30lb braided line to the mono, then when the spool was 99.99% full, tied 2yards of 30lb Flurocarbone on to the braided line, and finished with a yellow throwing plug.

Went outside, made the proper adjustments, made a short cast or two, then pulled the birdsnest out. Made more adjustments, more light casting (with the odd birdnest), then repeated the process and started to get the hang of it (thumb pressure, etc.).

Did not overdo it in casting distance for now. 10-20 yards in the snow.

Loving it.

I have a 3 foot high rock in my front yard. I get some pretty funny looks from the neighbours when I am standing up there pitching into a bucket 30 feet away!

Learning is the best part but know once you get the hang of it, you will still have the occasional "professional Overrun"

If you had great accuracy with a spincast reel, you will have no issues placing a lure where you want it with a baitcaster. There is just so much more accuracy with them.

And if you don't like it, Im sure you you can seem a sweet combo like that on here pretty easily. I doubt it will come to that though.

Ah! G.Loomis rods. Yes I already have one for Fly-fishing, among other brands (e.g. Sage, etc.).

Was so surprised at how easy that light yellow plug can be casted.

Going to try casting some weighted flies (e.g. Bugs, steeamers).
