Musky killer Sentenced

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Musky killer Sentenced

Post by River Monster »

I'm sure most of you remember the bonehead that was killing Musky last fall

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZzdesfXfaTY

Well turns out he's finally been sentenced and fined.

http://wired2fish.scout.com/story/15235 ... ined?s=537

Personally I think he's getting off with a slap on the wrist. They should be making an example of him and imposed a much steeper fine.

I definitely feel that the punishment is not enough...

Wow, first time i've seen that and let me tell you that "warmed" me up inside a bit.
Not even being there im almost fuming, the childish side of me would want to trunk monkey over on that boat and club him while yelling "your a less desirable species of man" lol.
Such a slap on the wrist Imo, Its his attitude that's really p*** poor though.

Not bad though...$1000 fine and 2 year fishing ban is a decent sentence I think. I'm glad it was all followed through with. It's rewarding to see a positive result from a person going out of their way to report a crime...and the crime being successfully brought to justice and sentenced. It gives others incentive to report illegal activities.

Seems reasonable to me. You take a grand and 2 years of hunting and fishing from me and I would be crushed:-)
It goes to show the power of video evidence.

I think a $1000 fine is a good start but would have liked to see him not be able to fish for 5 years.

i think it is safe to assume he has done something like this before but without being caught, there isn't much you can do.

I have a feeling this won't change his behavior at all, but at least karma came back on him a little. :)

Geez it was only a musky.... :D

Not a real game fish like the mighty rock bass cause if it was... throw the book at him

Take his boat, car house first born.

1000$ and 2 years no fishing.....the judge takes into consideration if he has shown remorse and if it is his first offense, regardless if anyone thinks he probably has done this before.

I suspect that he will be under a microscope and if he even looks at a tackle store it will be all over the 'net

It's too bad we can't get the drunk drivers up on the internet.
Especially the repeat offenders. We could follow them to the liquor outlets.

Not that it would change their behavior but it could make their life a wee bit more difficult.

Taken into the context of the "hell" he has gone through in his private life from this incident, I think the sentence was pretty reasonable.

I am sure they could have taken his boat and fishing gear too. Something tells me he isn't going to have too many buds that want to fish with him now anyway.

That fine seems about right. A 5 year ban would have worked too. The embarrassment and future chirping he will get will be plenty additional punishment.

Just remember, two years to an angler is like ten years to the average Joe :)

I hate stories like this, but I'm glad there were some negative repercussions to the idiotic behavior.

Thanks, Dad, for taking me fishing when I was a kid.
