Saturday South Shore Silvers

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Saturday South Shore Silvers

Post by T-Bone »

Say that 5 times fast! :D

With my boat out of commission still I was able to join a friend Glen on his boat for the day on Lake Ontario in search of Kings. He had another buddy coming with him as well, so we would be able to run 6 rods and really increase our chances of success. We headed out to the warmer south side of Lake Ontario in search of something with a little more chrome.

Finding coloured and warm water is the first thing to look for early in the season so we set out to do just that. The first 2 spots we thought might be warm and fishy were not so we kept searching before setting any lines. Soon we approached our 3rd location and right away it was looking warmer... 43 degrees surface temps! and we could no longer see bottom...time to set the lines! :D

Fishing on someone else's boat is always interesting and fun, as Glen had a bunch of baits that were his confidence lures that might not necessarily be mine, but the key is presenting the baits at their most effective action whatever they might be. In this case it was stick baits and spoons that were speed compatible in a mix of bright and more natural colours.

Before long we started marking some bait fish and hooks on the sonar, and then the rods started poppin'! We ended the day with well over 20 bites and a mix of Kings, Cohos, and Lakers. Here's some of the better fish 8-)

If I get the rest of the pictures from Glen I will add them up to share.

The best action was before 11am, then it shut off like a switch. We worked hard for a couple more bites, but it was a great day and we had to get to the tackle store as I needed to replace some equipment that I lost on Glens boat

Big thanks to Glen for having me out!

Good fishing!
