This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

There's Splake in them thar hills 2015

Post by EagleEyesFlash »

Had a good fish, with buddy "Flyfisher" yesterday in Ompahland.
Action was steady with 5 fish under 15", but my third was a dandy.

Wonder how the bows where biting up the road ?

The crappie are starting to bite near home here. So I'll be looking for a dandy one of them and then jumbo perch, and then...
Fun time of year and lots of good eats. :D

Nice fish. The bows were biting pretty good up there as well. Also biting were some thieves. Nephew was in a popular bow lake and left his Stilh chain saw out. Apparently some dick on a 4 wheeler decided he needed it more. Tough lesson to learn as it was a high end saw. Just a warning to everybody. Doesn't matter how far off of the beaten track you are, idiots can still find you.

Fantastic. I have caught a few splake in Algonquin, and I have always thought of them as a treat. As in, less of an urge to put it back, and just enjoy the catch and the meal afterwards.

Pretty sad to hear about the chainsaw. Been going up to that area since I was young, friends and family have had problems over the years with thieves stealing stuff from there cottages/camps.

Not sure when this was but last weekend was the atv run, 700+ atv's attended you always get one idiot in the group. Even in a remote area like that you still have to have stuff locked up and bolted down. No respect for other people's stuff at all these days, always the hard working guy that gets the short end of the stick.

Casting is my favourite way to catch trout.
The magic of a spoon fluttering down, start the retrieve and bang.
Saw quite a few surface feeding on midges, haven't seen splake surface feeding too often.
So did quite a bit of casting , but only got one casting and a follow, and 4 long line trolling
with the spoon fairly high. Buddy got one on a streamer on his fly rod.

Thanks for the comments, hope to meet more F-Hs, enjoy your reports too.
