It's great to have my boat back in full working condition now.
I was able to repay Glen and get him out with me as well as Aaron who has his own issues with his boat at the moment.
Glen wanted to see what all the Spring Lake trout fuss was about so we abandoned our first-light Brown trout program as it wasn't producing and slid out deeper to search for Greasy trout. Well to our surprise we found a non-target species....no complaints!
We took note of what worked for that fish...but returned to our plan at hand...
Then it was time to pull lines and head in to the weigh scale!!! That's a Lund Pro-V 60gallon livewell for reference
Glen's new Personal Best Laker at 25.10lbs
Currently the leader I believe in the St Catharines spring derby...may not hold though as the trout grow big in Lady O.
Unfortunately, after we returned from the scale the winds had picked up and the bite shut down. Oh well, we were happy and knowing we would be fishing again the next day, there was no problem leaving.
Up bright and early the following day and Aaron joining us as well. We would be able to run 6 lines and really try to dial in the Salmon that we knew were around based on the one that we tricked inadvertently the day before.
I'll never get tired of sunrises over water
Before long we started figuring things out, and then it was absolute chaos with fish after fish coming aboard Ripple Effect. A couple coffee's definitely went cold on us, but the fishing was HOT so we were fine with that.
One of several double headers, I think Aaron's fish just got off in this picture!
We did stumble into a few non-target species again, but this time the Lakers were not welcome, we wanted Silvers! Hard to complain about beasts like this one though...
Then back to Kings!
Our 2 best fish of the day happened to come as a double-header!
Aaron's was just over 19lbs!
Glen's turn on the rod hahaha
These are from Aaron's camera, some same fish, bunch of different ones.
From what I heard everyone all over the lake was slamming fish all weekend. Hope some of you were out to enjoy this world class fishery out our doorstep, Lake Ontario is on FIRE!
All fish came on silver spoons with any colour as long as it was green
Surface temp was 38-41.
Good fishing guys.
Tony
We also tagged a non-target species, and took note of what that fish hit, as we were going to try to dial them in after weighing in the above Lake Trout for the derby. Well afterwards the wind picked up and the fishing shut down, but we would return the following day with that piece of info in our minds, and a plan to expand our search for royalty.

Wow, what a fishery. Way to go guys. Are any of those bigger fish any good for the table or even the smoker? Or is it just the smaller 5-10 pounders?
Cheers

All were released to be enjoyed by someone else, but many do in fact enjoy eating them, even the 15-20 pounders. We were just looking for 1 really big derby fish, and enjoying ourselves while weeding through the little ones
