Ok, so spring has sprung, and the idiots are blooming too!

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Ok, so spring has sprung, and the idiots are blooming too!

So kids and I wanted to go for a little fish at Baie McLaurin.
We arrived, to see a vehicle parked at the launch area, trailer and all yet no boat anywhere around.

Initial thought was, jackass, parking there not thinking about anybody else.

Than the weather really started to turn rough and the Baie was really rough. My spidey senses started tingling that an experienced boater would not leave their vehicle in the way.
Key word:experienced

Sure enough sirens blaring in the distance and fire truck on Notre Dame. Oh coming down the lane.

Hmmm.

Sure enough, our novice boater, hit something and lost his bottom end, and fire dept water rescue arrived shortly after to begin trying to locate them.

So I explained the lay out of the Baie this time of year with help from my Navionics app, and they successfully rescued man, woman and dog, with out their own life jackets, and no boat in tow.

Kinda thinking no operators card either.

It turned out ok in the sense of no injuries, and it gave my kids a fantastic life lesson! So at least something good came from a potentially dangerous situation

So... Update!
Don't be that guy!

Well, just went back since our first crack at fishing was rudely interrupted, Thomas and I took a crack at it again!

Well we got rained out, but as we were packing up, he showed
Up with a chum, new boat to retrieve previous boat, and still no paddle or life jackets... Marine safety kit, not a chance!

Guys, this stuff is there to save you! Not to big you down!

You can not make this crap up!

Wow... some people.

Need to start charging an extra-stupid fee when rescueing them.

(PS - thanks for helping the first time... probably saved the rescue team a ton of time and effort! Mega Kudos!

Yes.

This shouldn't be treated any differently than people who ski/hike/climb in zoned-off areas, people who require extensive rescue efforts, with others putting their lives at risk to save the Darwin Award winners.

Extensive is an understatement! I would say 12 fire and rescue personal at minimum attended the incident.
1 ladder truck, 1 regular fire truck and then the marine unit were required to respond with 5 personnel alone.
4 personnel on board the craft and one to drive the launch vehicle.

There was a significant amount of manpower and resources on hand, yet all of this was not appreciated by the young guy. Of course this is my opinion, he may have understood, yet he seemed to high tail it out of there once they got him off the water. I did not even see a hand shake.
