Raisin River Tiger Musky

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Raisin River Tiger Musky

Post by Wencz »

Was fishing with my dad and girlfriend in the Raisin River at Lancaster this past Sunday. Dad hooked into this strange looking "pike" while we were trolling. Was about 36 inches. Turns out, after a little internet research, that it's probably a tiger musky. I'd never seen one before so I thought I'd share.

Cheers

Awesome Fish.

Normally with it being OOS we'd be removing the pics but in this case the fish is in the water and no grip and grin photos. It's perhaps a slippery slope but ah well.

Question for the Musky Gnostics on the site.

A male tiger + female lion= Tigon
A male lion + Female = Liger

These animals are very distinct.

From what I have read most Tiger Musky would seem to be Female Pike + Male Musky generally due to the easy of fertilization due to Pike egg adhesion.

Though it would seem they are more rare does anyone know if the Female Musky + Male Pike is substantially different than the Female Pike + Male Musky?

Just thinking....

Sweet Tiger.

Since the Tiger mainly a hatchery fish breeders actually prefer to use a male pike and female muskie, something to do with the egg clumping.

Pretty much the same fish from what I've read, they just grow faster and stronger then the pure strains of both parents, which is pretty neat.

If it's a picture someone is taking of you as long as you are not posing, and they are just taking a picture of you putting it back in the water then they can take many pictures. I caught a crap load of bass this weekend and some good pics too
