Multispecies report!!

Multispecies report!!

Post by CyrusG »

The fishing has been great this spring, when pike and walleye opened for zone 18 i did good catching lots of numbers of fish (Mostly pike), but the big girls were tougher to find. I've been targeting everything from cats and carp, to pike, eyes and crappie. Once zone 12 opened it was game on, this year the walleye weren't in 1-2 feet of water mid day like last year so shore fishing for them was a bust at one of my spots, once i moved to calmer water looking for pike it didn't take long before i found em. The average size pike at the spot is around 25 inches, i had a few 30+ inchers follow and had one hit my spinnerbait right beside my legs while wading out, after an intense battle it shook off after jumping out. I don't bring my net when i shore fish or wade so i end up loosing a few bigguns every now and then, when it happens i just think of it as a good release

Once my bro and i got the jon boat out we knew where the eyes would be right away, the tough part was finding eaters.. Most of them were either too small (Under 12 inches) Or right over 15.7 inches, i released a few beauty eaters that were not even half an inch over the slot, but that's the way she goes.

This one was 0.3 inches over the slot, i'll see ya in a month!

I didn't take any pics of the big cats this spring, but this one had cool markings. Another reason why i don't eat catfish out of the Ottawa River

First pike on the boat, lots of 25 inch twins were caught.
