Brookies in Indian Creek or Indian River?

Every time I look at the Kemptville stocking list and see that it stocks the Indian creek with brookies, I wonder if that's true or not. Do they not mean the Indian river? That's probably the better water body to stock trout, isn't it?

I've always assumed they got it right as those four creeks have always been stocked. Of course the river is a larger waterway and has some nice runs but there are too many predators I would think. MNR has been real consistent in their "mandate" to provide a true brook/creek fishing environment. Around here anyway. Plus logistically it's pretty easy roadside stocking for the most part. It's the kind of fishing that seems to bring back those early memories of real simple fishing. Nice for the fly fishermen as well.

Cheers

I can confirm they do stock "Indian Creek" however it is nowhere near the usual spots that are fished.

The fish are put in 'roadside' and I honestly doubt that they survive the year... some probably do as wildlife finds a way but that Creek is darn dry by the end of summer and almost frozen solid in winter.

The Indian River has more stable water flows - as it is fed by the command damn in Clayton and has a river level monitor at the Mill of Kintail, 950m from my house, how ever it is a warm water creek... it meanders and wanders about and is very shallow in places. Last to freeze and early to thaw. I doubt that brookies could live in it, maybe in the small stretch at the headwaters.

Anyway I've never caught a brookie in the Indian River and the ones in the creek are clearly just released, no fight, no sport and stupid fish.
