PB Lake Trout - Silver Lake

PB Lake Trout - Silver Lake

Post by scarkner »

Finally, proof that the ellusive Silver Lake trout do exist!!!

Happy to have landed a personal best laker last weekend, surprisingly on a shallow-running rig trolled behind the boat. Only took about 5 years of trying!

Image
31 inches, just under 10 pounds.
Caught on 6-Pound mono with a 5-o-diamonds spoon.

Hopefully I don't have to wait another 5 years for the next one!

That smile says it all. Nice work Scark. Last time I got a laker from there was when I was 14 with my father. Have fished it at leasy a dozen times since with lots on the finder suspended in deepr water but with no luck. I was thinking that there was none left.

Now how did it taste??
Fishing isn't a matter of life and death....
It's much more important.

It was very tasty (quite a few worms/parasites).

They stock the lake every year with thousands of trout and I see people ice fishing it every year. But I agree, once they go deep in the lake they just don't seem willing to bite anymore.

Great catch bud!! I've fished silver a few times through the ice, never even marked a fish.

So I have this buddy who lived out that way and ice fished Silver all the time. There's few if any people who have regular success fishing that lake but Paul seemed to have the knack. (he "created" this really weird lure of his own which I did see in action one morning when in two hours he went up 6 lakers to 1 on a lake I took him to. lol) Tho, he'd sure take days when he got skunked at Silver but, he would tell me that there are some quality sized lakers in there and he'd catch 'em.

You found one!!! 8) Feels good eh!?! Congrats on the PB. :D

Congrats on the great catch. I have tried a few times on the lake and while i marked fish, i couldn't get them to bite anything I threw at them. I was starting to think my finder was playing tricks on me.

Awesome catch!

It is a weird lake for marking fish. Constant marks within 10 feet of bottom in many spots on the lake, I too have tried everything to get "whatever it is" to bite with no luck.
