Ottawa River Underwater!

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Ottawa River Underwater!

Post by DipfromPAinOttawa »

Hello all,

Sorry in advance as I’m new to the site along with fishing the Ottawa area! I have managed to hook up my GoPro to my downrigger ball and am going to try and take some shots out of the Ottawa River this evening. Hoping that the water isn’t to murky for the footage to turn out! Looking to post some video footage of some nice size fish underwater along with some strikes to my bait that I’ll be trolling. Fingers crossed :D

Brave relying on just the adhesive underwater. You may want to add an additional tether line from your case to the ball otherwise you might be bringing in just the ball.

Not sure how much you'll see in the murky Ottawa. Now down on the st. Lawrence or somewhere like that would be interesting.

Shawn, I will look into the Photobucket site; never used it before.

Skeeter, I got it taped to the ball then secured with two separate pieces of 50lb power pro tied to each spot on the ball. If the tape fails I sure hope either one of the power pro hook ups keeps it hooked to the ball. The Ottawa River is murky but worth a shot, looking to get it out on white lake in the upcoming weeks. I should be able to get some nice footage from there.

Godspeed, I'll be keen to see the footage if it works - might wanna throw a gps chip into the body of the gopro just to be safe. Got a frogsuit?

Well everything went good, I made it back with the GoPro still attached to the ball! As for the video footage; nothing good past 10ft down! It just went to pitch black! Next time I get out to white lake or another clear body or water, ill be sure to take some underwater footage while fishing.
