Coke: Save a fish's life

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Dr. Bruce Tufts talked about this a little at the last bass seminar Paddletales put on. It was quite interesting to say the least.

He did indeed mention it. The product in question was Mountain Dew. Apparently it works like a charm to stop bleeding, on contact with the fish.

Quite incredible. I'll try it, but personally I don't even drink soft drinks!

You are right OAO,

If you look in the article he has said that changing to a carbonated water would probably work just as well, The carbonation is what seems to do it and so I would think the more carbonation you can get, the better is would be.

Had the opportunity to see Pepsi used on a bass last week. Didn't help one iota. :?

Much easier to fling the odd Bass on the shoreline for the minks or Turkey vultures to feast on :character-jason:
There will be an influx of Great Grey Owls in the winter of 2017

Once all the bass are coke addicts, they'll be able to fight ten anglers at once for twice as long.

Side note, it's weird that it's named Coke actually, and causes vasoconstriction, as, so does actual "coke" cocaine that's still sometimes used to stop epistaxis in the E.R. Hmmmmm!

soda water seems like the best bet because it will also help remove the blood that gets on your boat carpet. win win
