Asian Carp are here !

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Asian Carp have rights to you know.
There will be an influx of Great Grey Owls in the winter of 2017

And what right is that Paul?? To fertilize your rose garden..lol.
Fishing isn't a matter of life and death....
It's much more important.

You might wonder how they spread so easily...
Becky Cudmore, the Asian carp program manager at the Canada Centre for Inland Waters, said, "No one should panic. I'm not panicking. There is no evidence that there is an invasion. We are dealing with just two fish".
Similar words were probably spoken before WW2, or before a wildfire spreads... 'its only a couple trees burning... its only a couple nazis :D '
Somebody is just trying not to get fired.
Lets hope there is some action on this... because implementing walleye slots and worrying about stressed muskies will be a thing of the past.

By far that was the most ridiculous thing in that article... "we haven't found any females yet" .

And anyone with half a brain knows if they found 2 there is a lot more out there.

Was just a matter of time before they made it into our waterways.

Sorry guys, I'm a little confused here. The title of that article is "Asian Carp Makes Way into Lake Ontario", but goes on to say that the 2 carp were found in contained ponds???

If the pond was created 6 months ago.??I have my doubts the 2 carp were released by someone, or something like that....Considering one was near 40 lbs.....Unfortunately I think they are in the system.....

The pond was created about six months ago during construction work, said TRCA spokesperson Elizabeth Oakley."The second fish was found at another pond nearby. So far it isn't known where the two fish came from, said officials. Both the fish are male and fertile. One of the fish over a meter long and weighing almost 40 pounds, was found Monday."

I feel the most ridiculous part of the article is that it says they were introduced to the usa and europe as a control for weeds.

That's at least partially true, they were used in NY state to try to control weed growth in their canal systems.

Procrafter.. they were actually introduced by Westerners to control weed and algae blooms in ponds. FWIU they became a problem with these ponds flooded and spilt into the Mississippi river, and from there were introduced to many other BOW.

This documentary is facinating. You guys may enjoy it.

"Both the fish are being identified as grass carp, which belong to the Asian carp family."

New York State stocks sterile triploids for weed control. Every now and then one crosses the border. One was caught at Hoople a few years ago. It's not a big deal.
