FHBOVT 2015 Derby Entry Pictures

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

It was a slow couple of days of fishing. I managed to get out Monday morning for a little bit and finally got something. It's the only hit we had for the whole trip.

Got this guy on a drop shot just out from Reeve Craig launch near Kemptville on the RIdeau.
Happy to get something

I would have expected more entries than this by now guys. Everyone get out there.

I'm heading out this afternoon between 4:00 and 6:00 but I'm likely going to have to use my backup rod because I snapped the tip off my main rod. Time to get into the grass and catch some salad

I have a couple decent ones from the weekend at Palmerston Lake,
will attempt to post them this evening, getting pictures to show up
on here usually brings me to the brink of an exploding brain aneurism.

Caught this Largie in the slop. Damn good fight she kept diggin' into the weeds.

Caught this Smallie off a rocky point. Had a better one at 16 1/2" but forgot my camera back at the cottage.
Merrill took a pic with his phone but didn't turn out very well, kinda blurry and my "proof ticket" didn't show
up so I can't really enter that one, but Merrill will vouch for me that it was 16 1/2" LOL. I sh!t you not!! :P :P

And as I stated AND expected, nearly took my Louisville Slugger to this computer tryin' to upload the pics!!!!

Went out last night and managed 2 bass that may have totalled the 18" together. Nothing picture worthy yet.

Re: FHBOVT 2015 Derby Entry Pictures weekly report.

Post by azabache »

Hi Fishhawk friends,
First week of back to school for Junior & he was NOT HAPPY to go back :x !
Still made up for it with some "after school" Canal fishing! :D
So here is his offical entry for the week.
The Weeds are back , bite was slow, but firing the River to Sea Biggie smalls in black back / Chartruse down the middle lane seems to have done it as he hooked on to this Largie.

I ws sticking with drop shotting & managed (1) , he was so small he only just fit on 1/3rd the FBOVT entry page!
Anyway we also took Daveh_cdn advice ( thank you !) & hit the Rideau river & got on some smallies ,boy they are aggresive till the bitter end, won't stop fighting!
Not entering them as they were below 10" & we forgot the measuring tape....!!!

From now on Junior wants to give each fish he enters a nickname, sort of to remind us where they came from, so last week's football smallie is called "Carlos". Fish Location will be easy if you follow his logic here
It's raining today, water temp seems to be lower so fish should be biting around 4;30-6:30 pm. still will try to get out some where later .

Tight lines everyone, hope you all have a good weekend!

Azabache & Junior.

Caught this largemouth at 7:30 PM Saturday, 20 1/2 inches. Sorry for the small measuring tape and it was pretty dark out.

Ok so looks like week 2 was all about the LMB. unless I missed something ( which could be possible for this week ) there was only one SMB entered and that was by Cyber. As for the largies though I guess they are on fire!!

Week two winners

Adult:
LMB - merc40 with a very nice 20.5" LMB
SMB - Cyber with a 16 3/4" SMB - Sorry cyber I was laughing the whole time typing this.

Kids:
LMB - Junior with a 15" LMB named Prett! lol
SMB - none entered.

So just so everyone knows Junior is running away with the kids division so lets get him knocked off the high horse and show this city kid what you have!!

Great work Junior so far and keep it up bud!!
Week three is in full gear so lets get some more entries. We have over 40 people entered so lets get 40 entries this week!!

Cheers all

Well week three looks like a tight race for top spots...that is cause NO ONE ENTERED!!! lol. Fully understand busy schedules and all guys and gals. Heck I have only made it out a couple of times so far this month. Anyway we are on week 4 and then into Oct.

So is everyone ok fishing Mississippi Lake Oct 4th for the G2G and then getting a bite to eat somewhere in town? Let me know what people think. I am going to be bringing a FH member and his family out that day so I will be out there anyways!!

Also lets get a ton of entries in for this week and make the last week interesting.
