Handheld GPS units....Trying to choose

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Handheld GPS units....Trying to choose

Post by MuskieWannabe »

I'm looking at getting a handheld GPS unit for fishing and for going out into the bush. Thinking about a Magellan but they honestly all look the same to me. All I want is to be able to download the water maps (navigational depths for Ottawa River, Rideau, etc.) and use it when I'm in the bush four-wheeling. Any thoughts or advice?

I don't have tons of cash to spend but I have seen quite a few in the $200-$250 range (before the charts cd).

Thanks for any help,

I think your dad would rather you fix that motorbike in the garage and get it outta there.

However, if you are still going to get a gps the Garmin series are very nice and available at crappy tire and such. They come on sale, there is a model that also holds the fish / game lunar tables.

The other option is that you buy some Rino or Rhino (I think by Garmin) that are radios at the same time.
