Finally Building A Shack

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Got the lights in, including a nice bright strip outside the entrance that really lights up the snow... er... grass.

The lights all have dimmers, etc. so should run for days off a single battery charge. Some more interior pics showing the shelves, heater, beds, etc.

Enjoy!

Holy chit man. You've gone all out. Great job. I bet you can't wait to get out.
Have you considered putting some reflector strips on the outside?

What are reflector strips for? I hadn't really considered it, but would be easy to add. Is it to help find it in a snow storm??

Yea sure they help to locate it in reduced visibility, and I was also thinking of sleds or quads at night touring around in snowy conditions. Even worse with new early snow where no trails or roads are set. Just a general safety thing for me that makes sense, can't hurt and doesn't cost much.

Merry Christmas, and I hope you get to enjoy that nice shack for a while next year, it's sure not a good start to ice fishing this year.

Cheers

For those who have not seen it elsewhere - Here is a picture of the final hut. I added the reflectors and it pulled onto the ice with two people "OK". Could have launched it with just one person but it would have been tough.

Looks good. Even an air vent. Don't let it get froze in. Any more inside pics in action?
That's a pile of gear you got there. Two augers even. Nice

In all seriousness, you need something on that glare ice around your shack, IMO it's an accident waiting to happen and that's the last thing you want. By far the best solution is wood ashes if you could get some from a shack out there if that still happens anymore, or know someone who burns wood, but sand will work too. Just sayin...

Hey guys, discovered a few more photos on my camera over the weekend showing the shack on the back of my little truck (Tacoma) and also how it breaks into two separate sleds.

If anyone builds a hut in future and wants the plans for this one, just let me know.
