No Bait from Lapointe

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

No Bait from Lapointe

Post by scarkner »

Several threads have mentioned that Lapointe's seafood in Bells Corners is a good place to buy flash-frozen minnows for fishing.

Just wanted to let everyone know that they have torn-out their fresh fish counter and it is now just a restaurant. You can still buy retail fish from them, but you are basically dealing with a waitress and need to know exactly what you want.

In terms of bait - they only have larger lake smelt, frozen and headless. So basically worse than the frozen smelts you can get at most asian grocery stores.

I have crossed them off my list of possible places to get bait.

Even Walmart carries frozen smelt at times or even small mackerel.

The concerns posted earlier are really about frozen quality. The fish from grocery stores tends to fall off the hook. Lapointe used to have nearly fresh (flash frozen) product that had better structural integrity :D
