a splake type of report!

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

a splake type of report!

Post by Lvace »

Alright so A friend that lives a few hours north hits me up and says " Are you ready to come get some splake??" Me " When do I come down? :D " So I headed down Sunday and it was nice and warm but made for a lot of slush on the lake! Thanks god he had a skidoo because the walk in would of taken all day ! We get to his lake x for first light!

Image

What a beautiful place!!

We set up and drop down some holes and instant action! Everybody is landing fish but me as I just cannot set the hook but we did decide to start small and work our way to the bigger ones! Finally I brake my splake curse and bring up my very first one! Not the biggest but puts a big smile on my ugly face!

Image

Then the lake slows down..... So i take my time wonder around checking depth and structure and I end up back with the little group. Start jigging and whack this guys hammers it and gives me a decent fight!

Image

Adrenalin is pumping and we all head back to jigging! 20 minutes goes by and a big red bar appears under my lure!! Took a bit of playing with him but got him to hit and this guy hit! He was a bit bigger and gave me one hell of a run!

Image

What a great day it was !! The grin says it all!

Tight lines all and stay safe on the ice if there is any left :?

That was my first thought as well. The first one looked more like a brookie but those last two sure look like a grey.

The big ones sure look like lakers... I know of a few lakes that have different species of trout that aren't supposed to be in them.

Beauty fish none the less.
