First Time Musky Fisher

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

First Time Musky Fisher

Post by Smitty »

Hey Guys and Girls

I am new to the musky fishing game - and I was wondering if anyone can give me a quick lesson...I have the equipment and boat - I fish in the Arnprior area - mostly the Ottawa and Headpond - I need to know what baits to use and where to fish - should I be trolling or casting - how fast should I troll? Bucktails or cranks? Any spots that are good in this area?

I was out on Sunday for about 3 hours trolling - but we got nothing but weeds...

Any help would be appreciated.

thanks
Paul

My advice is don't give up, you seem to know what your doing. Keep experimenting with baits and speeds. I'd spend most time trolling only cast certain stucture. Saturday I caught only one Muskie and it came out of 30 ft in the middle of no-where up near Norway Bay. I was using a 10" jake.
