Dow's Lake

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Dow's Lake

Post by Larry »

Lake has been filled. The pannies will be hungry. Should be a good weekend to get your little ones out for a great time catching bluegills and pumpkinseeds, with the odd crappie thrown in.

Thanks for the heads up. Does anyone know where you can get free parking nearby?

Try around little Italy around the Preston st area. This is a short walk to Dows Lake.
Might make it out for Pannies very soon, itching to get a line wet
Maybe try the bottom of the locks for bullhead, they are a lot of fun with the kids!

Yeah I noticed they filled the canal the other day. I walked along the canal and saw some big carp too.

I went fishing along the canal last night and the fish were biting in the evening. A bit slower because it cooled down but still biting

I do believe, on weekends at least, that you can park in the lot beside the Ag Can buildings just east of the traffic circle.
I am not 100% sure of that, but I've taken the dog for a walk in the arboretum before and parked there with no issues. Very limited number of spaces, so be aware of that.
I'd also carefully check the signage. As I said, not 100% sure about whether the summer will be different, but it's worth a look. Then you'd just walk down the hill to Dow's Lake, maybe 5 mins or so.
Have fun.
