Sticky Skirts - How To Stop It?

At risk of a bunch of Bill Clinton jokes, my skirts are often getting sticky and stuck together. Almost looks as though they are melted together.

I think I keep them clean and dry, but it still happens.

Any ideas?

On spinnerbaits? I use a spinnerbait storage box and never had that problem. My frog bag on the other had to be scrapped when I found all the legs on the frogs melted.

THAT is what I am talking about. Same thing with my jig skirts.

I don't believe in spinnerbaits.

I use cooking oil to oil my skirts and rubber up to keep them from getting all glued together, not sure if this will work for you but works for me.

Baby powder! It soaks up any water and allows the rubber to stay flexible and separated for a long time! Be liberal with it, my jig box is loaded with baby powder.

I thought about that too, but I am afraid of scent. Maybe pure unscented talc?

Craig

PS
@ Joco... never heard of any of those things.

Water washes it off as soon as it's in the lake, The fish I catch don't seem to mind it!

I used a bit of Liquid Mayhem on my frog skirts yesterday, and they all split up nicely.

Good luck.

Craig,

The babypowder trick is something Bass Elite Pros use quite often. I actually watched a video of it on FB not two days ago. They keep a bottle of baby powder in the boat with them and sprinkle more in every time they put a frog back.

Now, if your skirts are melting together, this could have more to do with the plastics used in the skirts reacting to each other. It's a good idea to keep the same brand of frogs together or at least separated. My frogs are all in their own little space within the 3700 so none of them touch each other.

I also read that Spro is one of the biggest culprits with their skirts reacting with other brands.

I have been told Canasten Creme works well for this. Apply a liberal amount to the affected area and you should see a reduction in stickyness within a few days.

I am sold on it after you and Brad recommended it! I think you are right about the different brands reacting to whatever scent they are using is my guess.

This might help with the stickiness, but irritability lasts a lifetime.
