A number of people on here have probably fished at the end of the road at the water treatment plant. If you haven't been there in a while, you may be interested to know that the end of the road has been quite nicely graded down to the water. You couldn't launch a big boat there, but I have been able to easily back my 4x4 right down to the water's edge to launch my canoe. I have also seen guys launching personal watercraft there with no problem.
So if you are looking a different place to launch... check it out!
The picture shows the flat area (which has always been there). The difference is that the "drop off" at the road is now nice and smooth. Still need 4x4 to climb it, but not bad at all.
Let's try not to tear it up though!

Just had my lunch there today. Nice spot, I've been goin for years and love wading in the rapids on hot days like today.

Ottawa Fire has been using this spot for a number of years to access below the rapids. It could have something to do with that. Whenever someone gets into the rapids at Britannia this is the preferred launch site. If you are using this site , please make sure the site is not blocked.

Excellent point - I haven't seen anyone park or block this spot. I think that's more out of courtesy to people who want to fish/boat/walk the area.BC FD wrote:Ottawa Fire has been using this spot for a number of years to access below the rapids. I was at the Dragon boat festival a couple of weeks back. Only public boat launch between Hogs Back and Black Rapids is at Hogs Back.
Ottawa Fire water rescue truck and trailer are parked beside the boat launch out of the way. When they got back , two cars parked in the boat launch. WTF.
Some days people are Amazing.
