Fishing is getting hard for me somehow, especially from the bank. Heard that fall fish feed up shallow, but somehow have not managed to catch anything this fall, are the banks of ottawa river too shallow to hold fish? Or am I just fishing the wrong place and search for deeper water

If its Small Mouth your after, I would suggest to look for sandy areas

Points, pilings, docks, rocks and seams between fast and slow moving water.

I agree 100% with MichaelGA. The river is crazy full of fish and right now up until December is your best bet from shore so don't give up.

Get yourself a head lamp and go fishing in the evening for walleye. Try the stretch behind the parliament from victoria island up to the locks. Cast jigs tipped with plastic grubs or swim baits. Remember to often cast parallel to shore as the walleyes often sit close to shore at night. Reel slowly as the fish move slower in the colder fall waters. When you're almost done reeling in, pause your retrieval as this will often get those following fish to finally hit your bait. Keep your headlamp off while you're fishing as the light will spook the fish. Only turn on your light when you really need to use it. Follow these simple instructions and you will hook into many walleyes this fall and probably even a few giants. Have fun, bring a camera and don't forget to post a report for us!
