Saving the best for last

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Saving the best for last

Post by Yannick Loranger »

November generally means easy walleye jigging on the Ottawa River. It's the only time that jigging is allowed on the Princecraft. Jigging drive me nuts! The action was steady all November with lots of dink to keeper size walleye keeping us busy between heftier fish.

The smallmouth were particularly active this fall.

On what would ultimately become my last guided trip of 2016, with literally seconds to spare, Brian hooks onto something decent. I was convinced this was anything but a walleye, but what do you know, it turns out that our last fish of 2016 was our heaviest walleye of the year. At a girthy 28 1/4'', we figured she was in the 8-9lbs range.

It was a consistent year for us on the Ottawa. I was able to guide 120 groups or so and I can count on one hand how many I would consider to have been tough days. Bookings for the ice bungalows are flowing in and hopefully my next report will be talking about having the huts on ice earlier than planned!

Tight lines.

That's a great way to finish a season indeed. Great walleye for the Ottawa.
