Shirleys bay Ice

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

So true. Now this might be a lesson in futility but I wonder if someone was to write up a petition or do an online one for easier access asking them to move some of the boulders in late fall to increase winter access to the ice to prevent conditions like this from happening in the future. Just a thought.

probably wont do anything, but if you wanted to set a petition up, just show me where to sign. I have in the past contacted the manager (name was Gravelle I believe, was years ago) and requested the NCC to plow the launch area. It was at the end of the ice season and hut removal time and we couldn't get out of the launch due to all the drifting caused by the boulders. They did clear the launch though.....

It's worth a shot for clearing the ramp I will sign , maybe even a petition to have the rocks removed ... or if someone has backhoe or couple trucks with chains lol

That's an interesting idea. The ramp often dies the same way every year. You would only need to shift some of the boulders 8-10 feet to make a massive accessibility difference... the NCC wouldn't even notice.

I forget who it was but a two or 3 years ago a member here talked about bringing in some heavy machinery that he had access to.

I'm on board. Moving a couple of rocks on the west side would open up about 70 yards of access.

Make a plan man :)

I only have AT's on my 4x4 this year but if you can round up some chains/straps/rope I could help out if needed. Let me know.

Cheers
