Loughborough lake ice

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Loughborough lake ice

Post by Brant »

Anyone have an ice report for Loughborough lake. I drove 2.5 hours (one way) a couple weeks ago to find no ice. Id rather not do that again.
Many thanks

Was out yesterday on 3.5" of ice fishing 70-90 FOW in west end. Screen action at least every 15 minutes. Only one was willing to tangle with me. Friday temps may make weekend fishing iffy.

We were out yesterday morning east of Davidson's Point. The ice was pack ice (ice pans) that had re-frozen. We had about 2.5" to 3" in most spots, some more, some less, but anyways fairly dicey. We were in 50 to 69 FOW, fairly close to the south shore. Three of us caught two lakers, each of them good healthy fish about three and a half pounds. By the time we left the ice at noon, the surface was punky, the shore line was open, and I am thinking a person would have had difficulty getting off the ice if they left say later that afternoon. It has been mild since then and I am thinking we will not have fishable ice again until we get some nice cold weather again.

I would be very surprised, given our warm temperatures - but there are probably back bays/etc that might be OK. I would not personally be out on the deep basin again just yet.
