Rideau River Ice

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Rideau River Ice

Post by proud2serve »

Anyone out there been fishing the Rideau lately?

Specifically the area between the 417 bridge and Kars. I'm looking to take a buddy out this weekend for his first time and wanted to know if the ice is solid near the deeper channel. Saw some huts out there last weekend so assuming so. Also any word on how the bite is?

Thanks for the help and hope to be posting some nice photos from our time out.

Just a follow up.

Went out today on the Rideau near James Island with a buddy and the ice is plenty thick, at least 18" if not better over the channel.

Hit one Walleye (about 13" so not in slot), in 2 hours so they're out there.

Anyone been fishing the 'catch-all' on the Rideau river between Burritt's Rapids and Kemptville with our warm spell lately? I'm wondering about ice thickness and if there's any local shacks....I know there's usually a small community of shacks between Kemptville and Ottawa that you can see from the highway bridge over the river....

Thanks for an update!

You guys know where I can hit some ice? I don't have an auger. Just take my old chipper and crack open some old holes. Anywhere around Manotick to Kemptville area would be great! :D

Where is the place exactly and what kind of fish you can catch? I fished at long island several times but only got small perch bites so I am thinking to try some different spots. Thanks.
