Well just had a awesome weekend out on the ice and thought I would share. Packed up the gear Saturday morning and took my youngest daughter and 2 nieces out for some fun before RJ'S derby. Long story short we found no perch or crappies...shocker.... but did manage a few gators... one of which was her biggest fish ever...
Had a great time out with RJ and crew on Sunday and followed it up with more fishing Monday. Mondays fish story is I lost the biggest walleye I have ever laied eyes on. after several runs and tense moments the marmooska popped out as it was coming up into the hole...
Awesome weekend and hoping for one more trip out before all the ice melts. I held her fish just to show the size. Everything we caught was sent back down below.
I also put up the video of her bringing it in on the fishhawk Facebook page.

I was out yesterday. There was a solid 16-20 inches right out from the launch. Trucks, cars, shacks out all over. There was open water 10 feet out from the ramp so stay to the left. The shore line heading towards the easterseals camp had several iffy spots with some big cracks. I was in 12 fow right out from the launch and caught more 8-10 inch perch then I cared to count or take pictures of. The bite was best from 12 till 4. Overheard the guys next to me saying they caught a crappie... they were nailing a marmooska jig with a crappie hornet.

Hey Gord.
I was out on Lower Rideau yesterday. Took the ATV out with gear.
There were two trucks out there until about 1500 or thereabouts and launch had broken up. Water level is going up.
There was one lone shack (trailer) way out near stonehouse in the channel. Craziness.
Admittedly there is still 16" of ice where I was fishing in front of the beach in about 15' of water. I would think it is less out there.

When you head out .. take ice cleats.
Good luck

Yeah.....cleats were a definite plus out there this morning, .......glare ice for the most part. I walked out to the left of the launch and was also fishing in about 15 fow. Lots of micro perch and one surprise.....a 24"(guesstimate) laker  ...what a crazy drag screamin' fight on the 28" St. Croix UL!!  It was promptly released at the hole. fun times! :D :D

What are using for bait?
Not looking for anyone's secrets .. just looking to improve my numbers.
I am just using soft plastics and have intermittent luck these days.
I haven't been skunked yet but came close a few times.
