Christmas Eve and Christmas Night of my Fishing Season!!!!!!

Lots of fishing over the past 2 days and they were memorable to say the least... We had to fight off lots of nasty black flies but we were prepared for that so we were ok. If you're not prepared (bug nets or bug spray), you won't last 5 minutes in the bush right now...
On Christmas Eve, we witnessed some giant brook trout magic. This lake is legendary as it gave me a 6 pound speck 5 years ago and it payed out huge again this year! My buddy caught 2 MONSTERS at 22.5 and 23 inches = 5.5, 6 pounds.
Unbelievable. Just crazy really... The shore lunch was fantastic. Giant brookies are delicious! Flashing spoons followed by a few feet of line and a hook tipped with a worm did the trick. I fish this lake once a year in the spring and I leave it alone until the following spring. It's been so good to us over the years that there is no need to get greedy. Taking out a few monsters only makes room for the others to grow and my buddy definitely didn't catch the 2 biggest fish in this lake. Believe it or not, there are many brookies in the 10 pound range in this particular lake. Both monster brookies caught that day had bellies full of freshwater shrimp.
On Christmas night, we witnessed some walleye opener magic from shore! We were there at midnight to make our first casts as soon as the season opened. By 3 am, I had my limit!!! The walleye on the far right of the 1st pic is spitting up a sunfish. Their bellies were full of tiny sunfish and minnows which explains why some of those walleyes were so fat and why they're hanging out in this spot right now. An assortment of jigs + grubs or swimbaits did the trick.
It will be tough to beat that... but these 2 spots are so good that you never know... that's why we go fishing.
