Hello Everyone,
Dr. Steven Cooke’s Lab at Carleton University will be studying the ecology of black bass in Big Rideau Lake over the next 3 years. One component of the study will focus on describing the post-tournament dispersal and seasonal distribution of black bass. To do so over 100 fish will be implanted with small acoustic telemetry transmitters and tracked using fixed receiving stations distributed throughout the lake. A second component of the study will use social science surveys to characterize and understand stakeholder perceptions of the black bass population and black bass management in Big Rideau Lake. To do so we will be distributing surveys and conducting interviews to willing participants in the Big Rideau Lake area. With your help we will generate science needed to ensure the long-term health of the black bass fishery on Big Rideau Lake.
