Scotty Sure Stop Downrigger Stopper

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Scotty Sure Stop Downrigger Stopper

Post by steveo955 »

Hi All, I just ran into a problem I'm hoping someone has a quick fix for. I have a pair of Scotty 1106 riggers and cut off the original termination end and installed the Scotty sure stop (7' of 240lb braid with a swivel on one end and the same terminal end as the original end). The problem is now that the crimp that was used for the sure stop won't fit through the pulley leaving 7'+ out of the end of the rigger. I see that Scotty sells a replacement pulley and a pulley upgrade but there are no specs on the "upgrade". I'm hoping the upgrade has a smaller pulley leaving more room for the crimp to pass through. I would like to keep the sure stops if possible, does anyone have any ideas???
