Where else could I have searched?

Spent a wonderful day on the Big Rideau. But the catch ratio was way down. Other than flipping for large mouth; what else could I have done. I did more driving than fishing. I searched for bass both largies and smallies off ever point and hump i could find. Looked in anywhere from 5 feet to 65 feet and could not find many arcs or bait fish. Very slim pickings when I did find a few arcs. What else could I have done. Or better yet where were they hiding? Guides please chime in.
