About a month ago we did a road trip to the Atlantic Coast http://www.fish-hawk.net/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=51141;

I was also lucky enough to get a chance to visit relatives in BC who had a cottage on Sproat Lake and got a chance to fish the west coast as well. Though I wanted to take the time to troll the lake and catch bows and other Salmon coming into the lake that plan did not work out due other commitments. Got a lot of fishing in off the dock. There were rumors of large Koi but I did not see any. Caught a number of blue gill (!?) but the kids had a lot fun catching these Prickly Sculpin but the dozens off the dock once we dialed them in.

The highlight of the lake was me catching the 'bow of the dock (the definition of insanity is fan casting for days when time allowed in hopes of catching one). The funny thing is that the key indicator of fish seemed to be the arrival of the eagles. I saw a couple of them try to land fish and one flying away with one. My 10 year old took the picture in all the excitement so the quality if not that great.

The fishing highlight of the trip was taking a trip out of Ecluelet for Salmon. We limited out on Chinook with a Coho to boot (9 fish total). The halibut were few and far between that day and we did not manage to land one even after trolling off the bottom and jigging with 18 OZ weights. The day started out fast with a quick 4 a lull in the middle and then a steady 5 at the end. A couple of double headers and atleast two lost.
