Freedom of Information and Fishing!?

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Freedom of Information and Fishing!?

Post by zippyfx »

Doesn't this just take the cake... the nerve of some people.

Frankly I do not think that this has merit... No one has any business knowing where this guy was camping and fishing. As far as I am concerned this is between the park and him unless he was doing illegal (which we was not).

On the safe side I filed FOI requests for RJs gar spots and some of the location of recent Musky catches :)

Mike is on another site a check out every now and then and this topic was discussed at length while the actual FOI was being processed.

The lawyer is correct in that this is not what the purpose of FOI is for and I believe the ministry did the right thing. This request had nothing to do with the government and was totally unfounded.

If it worked though, it would have opened up a can of worms anytime someone posted a good pic while on a nice fishing trip within a provincial park.

Yea this story has made it all over the place. Even a bit of a comedy routine with Mike. I highly recommend watching the original video . Some amazing Brookies to be sure.
It's 40 minutes well spent. https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_cont ... 9OSV-Q24F4
He has many excellent reports. An excellent storyteller as well. MIke's site. http://www.canadafishingguide.net/
