I have a 10" HT polar thermal tip-up and a 10" ice auger. Therefore, the tip-up falls thru the drilled hole.
So,my ? is ,how do I correct this problem without having to purchase a smaller diameter bit ?

Buy yourself a 1x6 cut to width required, drill hole in center to allow line and tip-up shaft to go threw and you got a tip-up that will span the hole.

Have a good one.
