Constance Lake Dunrobbin - Ice Fishing

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Constance Lake Dunrobbin - Ice Fishing

Post by psellars2002 »

Hey all,
Was thinking of fishing Constance Lake in Dunrobbin tomorrow. Does anyone know how thick the ice is? Still safe?

Thanks in advance!

Constance lake is pretty well the first lake or bay to freeze and the last to thaw. As there is still plenty of ice at Shirley's I wouldn't worry at all. Good luck

No issues at Constance Lake. I wouldn't drive on as the run off down the hill softened the entrance for vehicles. Still about 2 feet of ice.

So how was the icefishing at Constance Bay? Did you do ok?
I have not been there this season. It used to be a ton of fun for hammer handle pike and perch. Now its pounded pretty hard.
I'll never apologize for being a hunter (or a fisherman)!

It was pretty slow overall. Only got a few Perch. Had a great time though and the weather was amazing. :)

That's too bad.
I have found that over the last 3 or 4 years the fishing has really slowed down there. That poor little lake takes a beating in the summer. It used to be a hidden gem.
I guess this is to be expected as Kanata expands more & more.
Cheers!

Yes for sure. The fishing has definitely slowed down a lot. I remember going there in the summer and the fishing was amazing. But every year more and more people fish there. Good for business bad for fishing. LOL! Oh well, I’m happy to be out there this time of year on safe ice. :). Better than stuck home inside!
