The Snow Musky -another unexpected guest

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

The Snow Musky -another unexpected guest

Post by kingofbeasts »

So, one week later, a piked up my rod again and went back to my walleye spot for more fun. I was hoping to be ice free so I can fish a bit, even if I won't catch anything.
I went prepared with lots of new soft plastics, some ice line, and my walleye rod. If they are biting it should be fun. My second cast was already a success. A 5-6 lb pike hit my bait like a hammer. Probably this is why they are called hammer heads in some parts of the world. It went under ice and managed to cut me off. How is this possible? Last time, I went out looking for pike and I've got none. Not a single hit. Now, I came for some walleyes and just hooked into a pike. Same ---- spot!
I retie my rig, new 25lb FC leader on my 6lb ice braid, new lure, new cast and... baaammm! Just at my feet. "----, I hooked into a log !" I say to myself while I see the line moving towards my left. This is not a log! " Now you're coming? When I came for walleyes? "
She put up a good fight but soon I managed to land her butt. Yep! It is a nice one.

Thank you all for the kind words, it was caught on the Ontarian side near Alexandra Bridge. You can actually have a better look of the area in the short clip I managed to do with my phone while I was fighting it. You can find the clip on my rodbuilding facebook page (see signature) as a comment at the picture with the same fish near the rod I caught it with .
