Military no longer require a license

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

To be honest, as a veteran, I will still buy a license. The money is needed for the Conservation efforts and just because I did 26 years don't feel right not paying my way.

So I have a friend who is active military born in Ontario currently stationed out of province where he has a house. Does he have to buy a license when he comes back home on vacation (leave ) or comes to Kingston or Ottawa on course?
I love golf it keeps thousands of unworthy off the water

I would contact local MNR office but I would be inclined to say that yes he does need a license. It would be based on where you currently reside and registered.

Taken from the above link.
Ontario’s Government has delivered on its promise and is giving back to those men and women who have sacrificed so much. As of January 1, 2019, all veterans and active Canadian Armed Forces members residing in Ontario can enjoy recreational fishing across the province without having to purchase a fishing licence.
