I have been mapping out spots to try dropping my kayak into and fishing. Some of the rivers and creeks do not have a public boat launch so I am wondering if it is legal to park on the side of the road and drop in from the banks by a bridge (see photo for an example).

Is this trespassing? Is there a public easement which makes this allowable?
Thanks
river access question
Re: river access question
I do it all the time. Sometimes there are restrictions on how close to a bridge you can park due to safety, but that's it.
I have also found that, in general, people are really friendly to kayakers.

awesome! thank you... I didn't want to make anyone mad.. and since I have not yet done this, I thought that it might be a good idea to ask folks who have !scarkner wrote:I do it all the time. Sometimes there are restrictions on how close to a bridge you can park due to safety, but that's it.

Stay safe... and tight lines!
Re: river access question
No issue on the launch. Sometimes issues further up the streams with adjacent landowners. Fences across, bridges, that you can't pass under. To continue, you would have to trespass. On the larger creeks - not an issue. Navigable waterways - etc

Good points. I’ll be sure to research my route on google maps before heading out to make sure it isn’t blacked anywhereOut4trout wrote:No issue on the launch.
